Tailored opportunities: PhD position in Applied Ecology: Agricultural biodiversity and climate change adaption


Climate change with extreme weather and risk of new pests and diseases will have a serious impact on food production globally and locally. Crop improvement and diversification can be ways of facing climate change. The candidate is expected to take part in international networks on conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources and operate within the framework of public-private partnerships, inclusion of lay expertise in agriculture or breeders and farmers access to plant diversity.

What is required?

A master degree in ecology or agricultural sciences, or equivalent education is required for the position. Candidates with a strong background or documented experience in agronomy, agroecology or plant science may be prioritized. Good written and spoken English is required for the position. Previous experience from relevant field-work and peer-reviewed publications are considered as important merits. We expect the candidate to be passionate about doing research, and that the candidate is willing to develop the skills to communicate this passion with other scientists and the general public.


Salary follows the State salary scale for scholarship holders, position code 1017, salary framework 20, alternative 8, starting in salary step 50 which currently constitutes NOK 436 900 gross per year. For particularly well qualified applicants, code 1378 can be used.
